AIW9700 Pro & Dell 2005 FWP 20" LCD will it work????

I have the AIW 9700 Pro and have just purchased a Dell 2005 FDP 20"LCD
which is a 16:10 format and 1680X1050 resolution @ 60 Hz. Now I hope
this combination will work, I am waiting for it to arrive from across
the US by slow truck. I do not see that resolution available from the
card. If not available will it work?? Does anyone out there have
this set-up?

It will work, however you may have to set a custom resolution using
Powerstrip.

The chap selling these monitors on eBay UK says that with the newest
Catalyst drivers you are able to select the correct resolution.

Well it is here, and it works great with the AIW 9700Pro. The screen
is 16:10 and the resolution is a little odd. With the new Catalyst
drivers all I had to do is change to 60Htrz and it offered me the
exact proper resolution. Great monitor. I am now trying to figure
out how I lost my DVD drive in the ATI Desktop. Something I did in
the Catalyst driver uninstall/install. Can't wait to play a DVD movie
on this monitor.

Did you just uninstall and reinstall the driver suite, Computer? Might
be a better idea to uninstall your ATI software (MMC suite), then the
driver, and have a good clean - at least run the ATI - Software
Uninstall Utility after uninstalling everything else and rebooting.

Then reinstall the Catalyst drivers and MMC suite of your choice.

Alternatively, you could try a repair on your DVD Decoder and MMC
installations - but the full uninstall and clean is definitely the
favourite method, especially after installing new hardware.

Thank you for the advice. I did uninstall everything and carefully
reloaded it all. It now works great, my DVD is back. ATI tells you
what order to install the mm files with the DVD decoder in the middle
of the install. I of course ignored the direction the first time and
the result was no DVD. All is well and the Dell monitor is super. I
am watching Matrix Reloaded now and it is stunning.

You're welcome, Computer, good to hear you got it fixed. Enjoy!
