AIW8500DV - Is P3 450 w. 256 SDRAM too slow for it?

I'm trying AIW8500DV on my P3 450mhz with 256mb SDRAM. It's
not problem to just watch TV. But when I doing recording,
it drops frames if I set video quality to 'good' or 'DVD' at
setup. It drops 1% at around 1 minutes. At 4 or 5 minutes,
it reaches 10% or 20%. Should I upgrade my computer?
What's the minimum configuration for capturing TV at 'good'
or 'DVD' or other qualities?

Suspect its a combination of things.
Your CPU is too slow, not enough RAM, mother board Buss speed too slow and
normally a 7200rpm HD is recommended. All of the above are probably your
issues.

I use a P4 1.8ghz, 512sram, and 7200HD 120gb and during capture turn nearly
everything off so PC can devote 100% resources to capture. I turn off
internet connection, Firewall, Norton, etc. I dont even move the mouse.

I normally get about 100 dropped frames across a 1.5hour vhs capture and
that's partly due to tape noise between segments. That's capturing in mpeg2
at 6mbits to 8mbits constant bit rate.
You can see actual drop frames vs percentage by changing the setting in ATI
setup. Its more useful.

good luck
