AGP 4X bus on a 8X board

I have an Albatron (nvidia geforce 4 ti4680 Turbo) video card and an Asus
P4S8X motherboard! They both support AGP 8X graphics but when I go to
display settings/advanced and click on the nvidia tab, it shows the 'bus' as
being '4X', not '8X'? According to the Asus manual, the board will
automatically recognize an 8X card. I looked in the BIOS to see if there
was any place to enable, or change the video-bus settings, but I didn't find
anything.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Ray

Have you installed the 8x driver for the motherboard? A friend has a
similar Asus board, and you need to install the motherboard drivers from the
CD before you can use the AGP 8x.

Thanks Larc, I found it (I think). In my BIOS settings there was a place
for 'chip configuration' but it was already set at 8X so I still don't know
the settings for the graphics card say 4X bus. I did find that the video
RAM was set to 64 meg though, so I changed it to 128 meg.

Thanks I'll have to check that, my local computer shop actually did the
initial set up! However, I'm assuming that they did, since 8X shows up in
the BIOS.
