Hi,
I have windows XP and a scanner Agfa Snapscan 1212p. I read that this
scanner doesn't run under windows xp, but with the computer i had before
(pentium 3) i didn't have problems with this scanner on windows xp. Now i
have an AMD and i installed as usual the Agfa Snapscan 1.0, it didn't work,
so i tryed Agfa Snapscan 1.4 and it doesn't work as well: it doesn't see the
scanner. May anyone help me with this problem?

thank you,
vvega

I've got the Snapscan 1212U, and downloaded the Scanwise version 2.0
software from the Agfa site. It works fine on the USB model so, if
you've having trouble getting the parallel port model working, you could
always give it a try (you've got nothing to loose except the 11 meg
download.)

Another alternative might be to give Vuescan a try. If you're wedded to
your scanner, it might get it to work (but it would probably cost more
than a new scanner!)

Just a couple of thoughts.

Try changing the compatability mode. My e20 wouldn't work under XP until
I changed the compatability mode to win 98.

The parallel SnapScans are accessed through a SCSI miniport driver and
listed int he system as SCSI devices. The scan software then checks the
ASPI layer for the scanner.
XP does not come with an ASPI layer itself, you'll have to install one
from Adaptec.

The USB models (while kroe or less identical to the parallel models) use
the Still Image layer (STI) rather than the ASPI layer. This is why they
work with XP without ASPI installed.
