I'm back. Thanks for help...I did download the Word Viewer to be able to open
Word Documents while in Windows ME, without Word program, as suggested by
garfield-n-odie (thanks) BUT I still cannot open certain documents from my
workplace website, they come out all scrambled. regular documents come thru
and I can probably print them but anything that might be interactive or that
I should edit I cannot open. What will do this?????

The Word viewer program is exactly that... a viewer. It lets you
view and print Word files. If you need to fill in a Word form or
otherwise edit a Word file, you need a full version of Word.
Your operating system (WinME) only supports Word 2002 or earlier,
while the current version of Word is 2003. You can get Word 2002
as part of Works Suite 2002 or later for less than $100. You
might be able to do something with the Word files using the free
OpenOffice program, but there are no guarantees, and the 60-meg
download would take forever on dialup.
