I recently upgraded my Win XP to SP2, and since then I have had the
following problem. When I download a .gz file in any browser (IE,
Mozilla,
or Firefox), and I attempt to use Winzip as the default application,
the
filename of the download gets changed to filename.gz.tar, which
confuses
the Winzip app. If I do a Save to Disk, the file is saved correctly as
filename.gz, and I can manually open it with Winzip.
I have tried doing a file association of .gz with Winzip, and that does
not help.
Is the Win XP OS doing this? Does it have anything to do with the
Windows
Firewall?
Thanks,
Tim
