After Silverlight install, Windows no longer boots

I downloaded and installed Silverlight, and then restarted my HP machine with
Windows Visat Home Premium. It never restarted. I have tried Startup
Repair, as well as using various system restore points, all to no avail. The
Systeme restor points finalize, and then tries to restart, and I never get
Windows back, just a blank screen.

Any ideas? next step is to try to restore to factory condition, but I lose
all my CDs, videos, pictures, etc. so very hesitant to do that. I spent
nearly the last two weeks recording everything onto this machine.
