I have a laptop 512M RAM 1.2Ghz Intel 80G Disk... I was
doing a rutine maintanance on the laptop... I
defragmented it, and now the laptop is exremely slow...
it took me 10 minutes to log in... usually takes 2
minutes! some of the applications take long to open..
anyone knows what could be wrong?

Use Microsoft Bootvis to enhance the boot process.

Download bootvis from here:

obviously this shouldn't happen with a simple defrag, so
some questions about what else might have caused it.

Was a defrag the only thing you did?
Did you compress some files at the same time?
is it slow every time, or was it just the first time after
the defrag.
Did you install/update a virus scanner?
Did you install/update any other bits of software or
drivers?

If the answer to all of these is no, then I'm sorry, but I
can't think o fanything that might help.

Dave, Thanks for the prompt reply, the only thing that
Defrag did after was the Chkdsk, and it did repair some
items and it finished with a chkdsk repaired
succesfully... I have not received any other errors.. it
is just slow.
