After defrag - Disc is not formatted error.

I just defragged my secondary hard drive (D:). Now when I try to access it
I get the message: Disk is not formatted. The disk in drive D is not
formatted. Do you want to format now?

I used the Windows XP Disk Defragmenter utility to do this. The utility now
does not see the disc at all. I have rebotted with no change.

What do I need to do to get access to the stuff on that disc?

You could try one of the many partition recovery tools that
are available from various places - see below. I doubt that
they will help you very much: If the defragging procss went
haywire then your file system is likely to be totally thrashed.
I defrag my partitions only rarely: The visible benefits are
marginal at best but the risks are very real.
