After align right, how go back to no alignment?

Thanks in advance.
I have a column that was left aligned somehow, though I
don't think I did it.
It's filled with numbers, and I want to put it back to
right aligned, so I can do that with the 'align right'
button. Then if I click on a cell in that column,
the 'align right' button will have a blue border around it.
How can I go from a right aligned cell back to a cell
where there is no alignment (no left, middle, or right
alignment)?
Normally cells with numbers are to the right, but
the 'align right' cell is not bordered.
So if I 'align right' the cell where the numbers are to
the left, the numbers are to the right now, but the 'align
right' button is bordered.
I would like so that the number is to the right but none
of the align buttons are bordered.
I can do that using the 'format painter' button from a
cell that is not aligned, but is there any other way?
Thanks again.

Hi There,

It sounds like your column of numbers is left aligned
because it has been set to "text" category (Format Cells,
Number Tab). Data that is defined as text defaults to the
left alignment. Data that is defined as Number defaults
to the right alignment. Data set to general bases the
type on the first character in the cell.

You can use the alignment commands to override these
settings, but then your alignment buttons highlight when
you select the cell.

So, if this is correct, you should highlight the data and
turn off the right alignment button. Then go into "Format
Cells", "Number" Tab and set the category to either number
or general.

I think:
Format|Cells|Alignment tab|Text Alignment section|Horizontal,
change it to General (at the top of that dropdown).

Text will be left justified and numbers right.
