Adware impossible to delete: Elitebar (searchmiracle)

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this but my
system (Windows XP)was hijacked by an adware extremely
difficult to get rid off. I've used all the
possible "cleaners" available, deleted the recommended
files and every time I reboot the system the same 5 pop
up's appear. The first one appears one minute after
restarting and the subsequent 4 appears after one minute
or so after the first one. The adware re-creates the
file Elitebar in C: Windows and all the registries. I've
activated all the pop up controllers available from
Microsoft, I've installed the Service pack 2 and
everything else but seems the adware is not affected in
anyway by all this. It's a real challenge. Anyone could
please help me?

Thank you!
The information in Symantec was not 100% correct but it
gave me the guide line to resolve this issue. For the
record: the file causing the headache was the
winghj32.exe.
