adware file on my system

Hello,
I just ran the brand new symantec Norton Antivirus 2004 on
my system. It came back without any problems except one.
Apparently there is a file called MSHDKN.EXE in my system
that is a threat/risk. It is an adware openfile program
according to Symantec's report of my system.
Symantec's software suggests to delete this file but the
file does not want to go. I have located the file in my
Windows system32 folder. I have tried to delete the file
and it will not go. The warning comes up that either it is
written protect or in use.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this file?
Thank you,
Kelly

Kelly,

Have you tried renaming the file, rebooting and then deleting it?
If that doesn't work. try scanning your system with the free version of ad-aware from
www.lavasoft.de if it can't remove the file during scanning it will prompt with the option to remove
the file at next boot-up!
hope this helps!----- Kelly wrote: -----
