Advice please!! intel pentium 3 or an intel celleron

would be grateful for advice as to whether a pc with an intel pentium 3 processor or an intel celleron, which is the best from these two?

Well their both old tech now, Why do you ask?

They are both passed their sell-by-date but if they were free, I would go for the PIII ... a Celeron has less on-board cache, therefore is a very slow processor.

Would make a good hardware firewall ...

It would be helpful to know which Celeron. The P3 will be old and slow regardless, but a Celeron could be 300MHz or 2.8GHz. Big difference.

Either one is fine if it is a desktop system. Put a new hard drive in it, upgrade to at least 512 MB of memory, and it will run faster than most new laptop computers.
