Advertising banners not displayed

Strange, Internet Explorer doesn't show the regualr advertising banners on
websites like Hotmail or cnet.com.
There is just a blank background with an error message saying "The page
cannot be displayed".
Everthing was working fine before. The only thing that happened to my
computer since the last time it was working is that Windows Update downloaded
the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Could that be the reason or does the problem come from Microsoft web sites?

Hello John,

Doubtful. For advice specific to problems with secure sites, have a look at
the first
link - for general advice, have a look at the second:

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#dns

Also, make sure you do not have anti-spyware protection running on your
machine, up to and including an edited hosts file.
