My Internet Explorer 6 has a missing tab in
the "Tools/Internet Options" menu. The "Advanced" tab is
completely missing. I have re-installed the Explorer,
checked for spyware (there was none), performed a virus
scan with AVG Antivirus from Grisoft, scanned the
registry, etc.

Re-installing the Explorer does not change a thing, the
option tab is stil missing and I cannot customize..
(Netscape is looking better every day)

Anyone have any suggestions??

Did you happen to use Spybot S&D to check for spyware?. If so, open Spybot and
go to the immunize page. Uncheck the option to lock IE Control Panel.

It's a AdvancedTab restriction, and you'll find it in either or both of the following Registry
subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel

Go to Start > Run > Regedit, navigate to the above Registry keys, and delete the AdvancedTab DWORD
value you'll find there.

Or go to Edit > Find/Search, and do a keyword search for a AdvancedTab value. If you find one,
delete it.

In fact, if you find Control Panel Subkeys (Subfolders) at those particular locations, it's always
safe to delete them in their entirety, as they aren't there by default, and only serve for the
purpose of setting restrictions.

NOTE: Before editing the Registry, ALWAYS back it up, or alternatively, in the case of Win ME or
XP, create a Restore Point.

Start-Run-Regedit
There could be more than one "AdvancedTab" value.
Try these keys first and then search for AdvancedTab (no space)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel

Remove "AdvancedTab" if present.
