Whenever my XP Pro system resumes from standby I cannot recover adsl
broadband connection without a re-boot (restart). Has anyone a suggestion
as to what could be causing this. Thanks

I'm having the same problem with Broadband. Instead of rebooting, I open the
network connections icon in the control panel and click on repair. Then I
can reconnect. But I still have the problem from time to time

Are you connected to a Network Card or USB. If by network card, it may not
be coming out of standby. Right-Click on My Network Places and select
properties. Next Right-Click on the Local Area Connection and select
Properties. Click on the Configure button in the General tab. Click on the
Power Management tab and un-check Allow the computer to turn off this device
to save power.

Hope this helps

You forgot to ask; DHCP or PPPoE !

Some 3-rd party PPPoE client software (NTS-3000) is not PNP and power
management aware. Uninstall it. Use RASPPPOE or XP own PPPoE driver.

Get a DSL/Cable Router such as the Linksys BEFSR41 and there is no need for a PPPoE client
since the Router, not the PC, will make the connection.
