Adobe Reader not working in Win2000

Hello

I am having a problem with Acrobat 6.0 locking up in Win2000
All I get is the splash screen. In the task manager it shows that
Mcaffe virus scanner at 90%+ CPU usage. If you disable the Virus
Scanner Acorbat Reader goes to 90%+ CPU usage. I can only shut
it down in the task manager.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled more than once the last time
I cleaned out all Adobe reg entrys and all files I could find.

It does this in IE6 or If it is run from the desktop

Hope someone can help. Thanks Andreas

Works fine on my Win2000 and with very littl CPU usage so the problem isn't
inherent. A faulty download perhaps? Did you disable your virus checker
before installing it?

It is a little beggar to uninstall properly.
Freeware RegCleaner is very good at cleaning out the registry entries

I'd also ensure that it has as little power as possible. Disable any options
where it can check for updates etc by itself eg you can safely disable the
AcroIEHlprObj Class from startup. (I use StartupRun for this:
