Adobe Acrobat Plug-In

I reinstalled (removed, then installed) the Adobe Acrobat
Reader (version 4, then version 6) and now Internet
Explorer does not recognize .pdf file types. How do I
reset this plug-in in Internet Explorer?

Adobe Acrobat Reader is not a plugin.

Verify the .PDF file association using Control Panel > Folder Options > File
Types.

I verified the file association. When I click directly on
a .PDF, it brings up Adobe Reader 6.0. When I click on
a .PDF in the browser, I get an error message with the
title "Acrobat plug-in." and the message "Could not find
Adobe Acrobat." I had Adobe Acrobat 4 (complete version)
installed, then updated the reader to Adobe Reader 6. IE
lost the link to Adobe Acrobat 4 and can't seem to
establish a link to Adobe Reader 6, even though I have
uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times. Where do
I have to go (in Windows - the registry?) to instruct IE
where to look for Adobe Reader 6? The automated
installation does not seem able to fix the association in
IE (the association in Windows Explorer works fine). What
do I need to do manually to fix this?
