Administrator's password locked out-Need help ASAP

R

Rason

Currently, I am on Windows 2000 Professional, in an Active
Directory Domain. I was currently tasked to rename on
workstations on our Domain. The administrators in AD
created the workstation accounts in my specific OU and
gave me access to rename our workstation names to the
newly added workstations. I would log on to the domain and
rename the workstation and the add it to a workgroup, then
reboot. Then I would log in as the administrator to the
local workstation, but after 1 bad attempt, the
workstation says that I am locked out. How can an
administrators account be locked out. These accounts have
never been renamed or created. These are the built in
administrators account.

Please help...thanks!

I am confused as to why you would rename a domain computer and then remove it from
the domain and put it in a workgroup. Anyhow the built in administrator should not be
locked out to logon. Maybe it was renamed it some point in time. See the link to
Karls FAQ on what to do with password problems. --- Steve
