Administrator?????

P

Phil

Hi,

I have a notebook with only one user, ME. I have administrator rights, but
in trying to do certain things (as simple as running program) I'm told that
I have to have Administrator privileges. What am I missing??????
I'm running Vista Home Premium.

Thanks,
Phil

"When a user whose account is a member of the local Administrator account
logs on to a Windows Vista computer, they are logged on as a standard user
by default. When the user wants to perform a task that requires
administrative privileges, such as installing an application, Windows Vista
explicitly prompts the user for permission or for credentials, depending on
the security policy that is chosen. "

Here are some links about User Access Control (UAC) in Vista. Even when
running in an account with admin privileges, it runs as a Standard user.
When a program needs admin access then you are prompted for elevation.
