Administrator privileges lost

When logged on as Administrator I can still access user
profiles and some other admin functions. However, I am
locked out from Hardware Install etc. and W2K Setup.
I had problem trying to load SP4 (currently on SP1)and
performed Repair. What can I do to correct short of a
reinstall?

Are you logging on as a User with Administrator Rights or "The"
Administrator?

I'm having the same problem whether signed on as "The
Administrator" or as another user name with Admin Rights.

Hi DJ. I have never personally tried it because I have not had the need. One other
poster did comment it worked for him in his situation. My assumption is that somehow
security options/user rights assignments/ntfs or registry permissions became
corrupted or changed causing the problems. If you do not want to reset all of your
security settings, you can try just certain parts of it using the /areas option with
secedit such as /areas user_rights. --- Steve
