Administrator password

I

Idiot

When I began using WIN2K a few years ago on my home PC, I
have not required the use of a username/password and do
not remember the Admin password. I now want to share
files, printer, etc. with a laptop (WIFI; WINXP) and
understood that I would have to set up a workgroup. I
think I made it through all the proper steps, but did not
establish any passwords in the Network Identification
Wizard. After restarting the computer the logon prompt
now appears and I cannot get Windows started (I've tried
dozens of passwords I have used in the past). Do I have
to reinstall Windows? If so, will I lose all of my files
(partitioned as C:D:E:)?Or am I S.O.L.?
Thanks in advance
