I have Windows 2000 Professinal. I just did a fresh
install and am unable to log on as the Administrator. Is
there a way to reset this password? Or, am I going to
have to install this again?

Chris

You JUST did the install and cannot not remember the password from that
short a span? Did you even specify a password? Maybe you left it
blank, so try a blank password. Otherwise, and since this is a new
fresh install, reinstalling would be preferred to having to use
bootdisks (runing Linux) that try to hack the password or paying for
something like WinInternals Locksmith.

The official answer from Microsoft has to be "reinstall," for a
variety of reasons. However, there are free password reset disks that
will let you reset the password. From the FAQ:

http://securityadmin.info/faq.htm#password

The Admin password is chosed by you during the Windows installation.
You need to remember that password or problems will occur.
