When I initally installed Win XP pro, I didn't configure an administrator
password since I just created an account with administrator privliages. This
has begun to cause me problems. My MBR (Master Boot Record) needs to be
repaired using recovery console which requires an Aministrator password.
Well since I don't have one it will not run (at least I'm not aware of what
the password would be). I have tried several different methods to try and
change or recover the password using various boot cds. And everytime I try
to change it, it will stay Disabled/Locked, I believe this is due to the fact
that it is a Read Only folder the program is trying to write to. Any help is
appreciated, or if anyone has any other boot cds that do a similar task like
the one i described and have had it work successfully please let me know.
I'm in desperate need!

Thank you
John

Have you tried just pressing enter or tab at the password screen. This
should work if no password was set.

Well although I didn't say it, but that was the first thing I did, and its
not that no password is set, it is that the Administrator account is
disabled/locked, so I need to know what Microsofts default way of activating
this, since unless some "forgot" to include this feature which would be very
vital in a situation like this since you know it really isn't like I did
anything wrong. So if someone has solved this please Key in.

You may note that I included in my orignal post, that I have used such
programs as the one you suggest, I have infact used that exact one, but
everytime I do the password change it saves, and then if you go back into it
and you see that it is still disabled/locked. No changes are actually made.
This is actually a common problem with this program, if you read the FAQ and
the creator states that it isn't the strongest code, so if anyone else has
had a program that perferable contains the SCSI drivers that the one stated
by Rock would be greately appreciated

Thanks for the response.

Sorry but you didn't say what you had tried. Good luck.
