I have a situation with my domain controller. The password for the
administrator account has been changed accidentally by another user and
forgot the new password. I can't seem to change the password and for now I
haven't restared the DC since users are still connected to it. And if I
restart it, I might not be able to log in back. Is there any other way to
retrieve the password? Any helpful suggestions are welcome.

I would never ever run a Win2000/XP PC with a single admin
account, and even less a server. It's like owning a car with only
one set of keys. One mishap and you're history.

You'll have to reboot the server with a boot disk from here
http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
then reset the admin password to a blank. It's scary stuff
but it works.

Domain controllers have no local accounts, so simply ask one of the
other domain admins for assistance in resetting your domain password.
