I have XP Home with Service pack 2. In trying to set up file sharing between
2 desktops I have lost the administrative account on this computer and I
cannot do anything like add, delete or get updates. A box comes up saying
"you have to be logged on as an administrator". When I go to user accounts
there is only one in there saying "limited access"

The other computer seems to be fine and looks to be all set up for file
sharing. The problem is this one. Nothing can be changed or added without
the Administrator account. How do I get that back? Can anyone help? Much
appreciated !!

The Administrator account exists in Windows XP Home Edition, but it does not
typically appear on the Welcome logon screen. In Windows XP Home Edition
the Administrator account is not displayed in User Accounts unless the
computer is in Safe mode. You have to boot into Safe Mode to access the
Administrator account in User Accounts.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | User Accounts

Thanks Wes for your reply.

My start-up screen had an administrator account and a guest account. Now it
only shows an icon which says "unlimited account". I booted unto Safe Mode
but it wasn't there either. I had gone to the error message page but every
time I tried to do something it said to do it would say only the
administrator can do this.

My problem is: My Administrator account is gone and I need to know how to
restore it. Help please.

Thanks
