Administrative Tools Lost

G

Guest

Hello,

I restored an Windows XP SP2 installation from a Backup, but my
"Administrative Tools" Folder is empty, the links are lost. In Control Panel
as well as in start menu. Control Panel directory is empty, Start menu entry
shows only an "desktop.ini".

The programs like computermanagement work fine via run, how can I restore
the links into the control panel folder?

Thank you!

Hi,

You can check if all shortcuts in the following folder is missing:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools

If so, copy the shortcuts on a good Windows XP computer, and ask customer
to paste it to the above folder

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Hi,

thank you for your answer, just to confirm it:
I'm able to edit the control panel folder "administrative tools" with All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools or is this just a normal
folder in the startmenu?

Hi Shrek,

You can treat it as a normal folder in this method. :)

Let me know if you still have any concerns.
