Administrative rights

Using Windows XP Pro

I am trying to repair a computer that is badly infected with virus' and
spyware. When I turn it on i only get a log on screen not a choice of users.
I created a new user (me) with administrative rights yet when trying to do
various things (install) I get a message saying that you must have
administrative rights. I have tried to sign on as the administrator but the
pc owner doesn't know the pw. I even tried it blank but can't get in. Any
ideas?

Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and download the boot
disk, this will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system.

Once you have cleaned the machine of malware you may like to do a
repair install :-

I have XP HOME Edition --but hit the Administrator problem and locked myself
out of my own system. I have a DELL and the only thing that solved it was a
PC (NOT SYSTEM)--a PC RESTORE--but careful--now it created another
problem--get some "expert" help on doing a PC RESTORE. bbppg220--I posted a
question also--that's how I happened across yours--goodluck!
