Hi Guys,
At my home PC, OS is XP Professional. There was just one login as
Administrator with no passowrd set. I use to login directly without any
password prompt. yerterday night i installed some of the security patches of
XP from windows update site. It asked for reboot & then administrator login
started asking for Password. Can anyone please guide me what is the default
password set by windows updates or is there any other means for me to log in
& reset admin passowrd.
Thanks..

There is no password. Just leave the field blank.

BTW, it is NOT good practice to use just the built-in administrator
account for day-to-day use. If that account becomes corrupted, there is
NO WAY you can access your machine without doing a repair install of XP.
Create another user account (give it Admin rights if you want) and use
that one for day-to-day use. Leave the built-in administrator account
for emergencies.

If *you* didn't set a password, then it is still blank. Windows Update
doesn't assign a password.

A word of caution, however:

The built-in Administrator account isn't intended to be used for
day-to-day normal use. The standard security practice is to set a
strong password on it and use it only to create another account for
regular use, reserving the Administrator account as a "back door" in
case something corrupts your regular account(s).

A wiser course of action would be to create another user account
for your daily use, and copy desired the files and settings from the
Administrator account to this newly created user profile.
