Admin Sign in Problem!!!

Some how I messed up my computer and the user accounts. I used to only have
one account which was the Admin. Now, after trying to create a second user,
I have gotten rid of my orginal user and only have the option to sign in to
the new user account. The big problem is that none of my orgianl setting, IE
favorites, my documents are there. I can still get to them but i Have to My
computer-Shared Documents-Admin- and then i see all of my old
documents(desktop folde with all of my old desktop items, my IE favorites,
etc... The new account says it is the admin for the computer but I do not
see a way to get to my old user or setting. When I go to change users I only
have one option which is the new account I just created and a guest account.
There is not an option for the old account. What do I need to do?

If you 'gotten rid' of your old user account then it is gone. Seems
logically doesn't it. New accounts also don't inherit settings from existing
accounts and/or deleted accounts and why should they. Also logical unless
you want the world to be a very confusing and messy place.

Maybe you could try taking ownership of the 'Admin' documents. Do some
research!!

Hi,

Once you create at least one user account, the default administrator is
hidden as it is not meant for regular use. You can simply copy the majority
of it to your newly created user profile.

Are you using the Home or Pro version? When a new account is created
the built in administrator account is removed from normal log in.
That's normal. You should not use the built in administrator account
for day to day activities. It is there as a fall back in case the
working account(s) gets corrupted. To login to the administrator
account, if XP Pro, at the welcome screen hit control alt delete twice.
Then type in administrator and the password. For XP Home boot into
safe mode. You can copy the information from the administrator account
to your new account with administrator privileges.

As you've just learned, once any additional user accounts have been
created, the built-in Administrator account will no longer be displayed
on the Welcome Screen. This is a default security feature. By
design, the only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home
is to reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice
at the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

The built-in Administrator account isn't intended to be used for
day-to-day normal use. The standard security practice is to set a
strong password on it and use it only to create another account for
regular use, reserving the Administrator account as a "back door" in
case something corrupts your regular account(s).

A wiser course of action would be to create another user account
for your daily use, and copy desired the files and settings from the
Administrator account to this newly created user profile.
