Too much security? I thought I could use applications logged in as a "User"
in WinXP but it seems as though my applications only work logged in as the
"Administrator". Maybe I'm missing something, here?
I rebuilt my *new* PC with a fresh install of WinXP, then installed SP2.
I love the security but I don't understand it. For example, AutoCAD runs
fine logged in as Administrator but it crashes under the User accounts. I'm
just using the generic "Admin" and "User" security profiles supplied by WinXP.
I already cleared AutoCAD as a "Firewall exception" -- AND -- opened port 21
as instructed per MSKB article 842242. However, AutoCAD still crashes under
the "User" account but not as "Admin". This is also happening with the
Napster client software even after clearing a port through the WinXP
Firewall. I don't get it.
Does anyone have a solution?
Sincerely,
