address book saved to desktop on closing

Good morning
Latest Outlook Express seems to insist on saving a file
with name "~" to my desktop every time I close the
program.
Any ideas why?

Note, this group supports Microsoft Outlook from the Office suite of
productivity software. Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and
has its own news groups. Search on Express and you will find them.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
