Address Book hangs when Word is default email editor

Office XP, Outlook 2002 & Word 2002

When Word is the defualt email editor, the Address Book will hang for a long
period. Looking at the Task Manager, neither Outlook or Word are listed as
Not Responding. The Address Book eventually functions normaly, however as
soon as a new email created the process repeats itself. All Office XP
service packs and patches have been installed.

The problem doesn't happen when Outlook is the default email editor.
