address bar

I am running IE6 on Windows XP Home.
I keep losing the address bar but can normally regain it by again ticking on
the ADDRESS BAR column in the VIEW menu and dragging the bar down.
Recently I also ticked the LOCK TOOLBAR tab in addition to the address bar
bau I have again lost the address bar.
I noted that the tick was gone from ADDRESS BAR in the VIEW menu. Ticking
that made no difference and I cannot now find the address bar at all.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks....

Right click the toolbar and make sure that Lock Toolbars is not checked and
that Address Bar is checked.
Grab the handle at the left end of each toolbar and drag them down. One of
them is probably hiding the Address bar.

Thanks Frank - I now have the address bar back but I have the feeling that
it'll disappear again - the tick seems to disappear from the ADDRESS BAR
column in the VIEW menu every couple of days. Any ideas why that's happening?

Thanks Don - I've already lost the address bar again after only 2 hours!
The tick was again missing from the ADDRESS BAR column so I've ticked the
LOCK TOOLBAR option and I'll see how THAT goes.
I'll take a look at that site too - thanks again.

Hi,
Try relocking the taskbar after making changes. If that doesn't preserve
settings, go to http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFAQ.htm >>> tip #16.

First eliminate any scumware.
What You Should Know About Spyware
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/devioussoftware.mspx

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
