Address Bar on the Taskbar

K

Kieron Capehorn

For a few years I have used the address bar on the taskbar to quickly jump
to webpages. It would always 'hijack' the most recently used Internet
Explorer window (if there was one open) and load the site in it. A couple
of days ago, it stopped hijacking open browsers and will now always open a
new one. How can I change this back to how it was?

Thanks

You can also use the Run command to do this.

Start | Run | Type or paste the URL | Click OK

Or use Windows key + R to open the Run command.

Try this.

Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab |
Check: Reuse windows for launching shortcuts |
Click Apply | Click OK

Reuse windows for launching shortcuts
[[Specifies that when you click a Web link in an Internet-aware program,
such as Outlook Express, and there is already an Internet Explorer window
open, the Web page appears in the open browser window instead of opening a
new window.]]

That worked, thanks

I'm not interested in using the run command though, I find the address bar
much more handy.
