I know how to delete the drop-down URL's from the address bar by using
regedit to edit the 'typed URls' registry keys. My question is where is the
alphabetical list of previously visited urls stored that come up when you
start to type a a previously viewed url in the address bar
located?.....Thanks for the help

Hi Don :)

These URLs you're seeing are likely in the index.dat file in the History
folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
will delete the History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will
be created when you restart.

URLs that drop down when you click the arrow on the right side of the
Address Bar, may not clear with the rest of the History. They can be safely,
easily cleared with one of these free programs/scripts:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
and download "DelTypedURL." This INF file will remove all entries.

These two freeware programs will remove some or all entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm

Autocomplete can be turned off from Internet Options> Content> Autocomplete.

More info at:

and.....

The History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
should be able to clear the History and the index.dat file.
Just check the appropriate boxes and run it.

Hope this helps.
