I just purchased a new machine for our church office network. I runs XP Home
Edition. The other pcs on the network (four in all) run 2000 Professional.
I have run through the Network Wizard on the XP machine and gave workgoup
name and the computer name the same as it was on the old machine (which could
be seen by everyone on the network). I also used the same IP address for the
new machine that was designated for the old machine. I DID NOT run the
Network Wizard on the other machines (as it suggested to do). I would prefer
that the XP machine conform to my existing network.

As of now, no machines can see each other at all.

All of the machines are routed to a hub and directly access each other
through that. Our hub is then attached to our cable modem box and that is
how we all access the internet.

I'm very new to networking. I had the 'old' networking running very
smoothly! Please help me make this one as problem free!!!

did you say that you setup both computers using the same computer name and ip? Hopely not. Can you ping each other? thi step by step troubleshooting may help, http://www.howtonetworking.com/Troubleshooting/notaccessibale0.htm
