adding to the desktop context menu

Could anyone point me to an example that adds menuitems to the desktop context
menu 1. permanently, 2. only while my app is running?

.. someone provided an example of adding to the context menu of Drives and
Directories. This isn't exactly what you want but it may get you started.

Do a search in your Registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for 'shell' and see
what other examples you can find.
