The "News" command will sometimes appear and sometimes not appear in the "Go"
menu list. When it does appear, selecting it results in the display of a
"1033" folder and its contents -- not the newsgroup reader, as expected.

I have Outlook 2003 SP1 installed with Business Contact Manager SP1 on XP
home SP1. I am reluctant to uninstall the BCM because I make extensive use
of it.

I want to be able to start the Newsgroup Reader with a simple (and
consistently available) menu selection. Please help.

To get the News button back and correct the Windows Explorer error:
Control Panel>Internet Options>Programs tab.
Change the default newsreader to Outlook Express.
If OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you
launch it, UNCHECK the "Always perform this check..." box and click the NO
button. (Sounds weird, but it works.)

Indeed it does. Thank you very much, Z.
