Hi, I am using xp pro and i know this is probably an easy
question for most of you
but, i added 128mb of ram for a total of 256. rt
clicking on my computer and checking properties still
shows 128mb. what else am i supposed to do besides
physically adding it, please??
..

does the bios post show the extra memory?? you might have to tell the bios
that you added it so that it reports the right size to windows.

Putting new RAM in your motherboard is generally all you have to do. If it
isn't showing up then perhaps the RAM you added is defective or, more
likely, isn't the correct type for your board. You need to determine if the
new memory is working.
1. Try removing and reseating it into the slot it's in now.
2. If no luck then remove the original RAM and insert the new RAM in its
place (in the bank-0 slot). Does the PC boot up? If it doesn't boot with
just the new RAM installed, then there is a problem with the new RAM. If it
does boot, install the original RAM and see if the entire 256Mb is
recognized.
3. Go into BIOS and see if there is a setting to enable additional RAM.
