Adding Phone Numbers to Contacts

When adding phone numbers to Contacts, Outlook will freeze and I will have to
End Task Outlook. I can start Outlook back up and it is fine until I try to
enter a phone number into a contact. This happens when entering into a
exsisting contact or new. Any help would be much appreciated. I am currently
running Office 2007 SP2.
 
Do you have the area code configured in Windows control panel, phone and
modem?
