Adding Newsgroups to Outlook 2003

I used the std procedure to add newsgroups to my Go menu in Outlook
2003. It worked just fine and I subscribed to some newsgroups.

Now the News selection is gone from the Go menu and I can't find it
anywhere.

I went back to the Toolbar Options, Add Remove Buttons, Customize,
Command, and Go, but the News is no longer there to drag to the Go menu
item like I did before.

I can't find the News anywhere. I rebooted and still the news selection
is missing. I'm having to do this message in Netscape to get it posted.

Any thoughts on how to reestablish the newsgroups for me? I'm using XP
as my OS.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

You may need to reset the Menu Bar and/or restart Outlook and/or reboot your
machine in order to complete the process. Not everyone is reporting success
with this method, but try it and see what happens. If all else fails, you
can always create a desktop shortcut to Outlook Express and include the
/outnews switch -- that gives you the same result as accessing the
newsreader via the News command in Outlook.

That worked like a champ. Just changed the internet options back to OE for
newsgroups and lo and behold, the news appeared in my Go menu. I clicked it and
all the groups were still there.

I had forgotten I had changed the newsgroups to Outlook when the prompt
appeared.
