adding items to "edit with" list in toolbar

How do you add items to the "edit with" option in the toolbar? Mine lists edit with Microsoft Word or edit with Notepad. I need to add edit with Microsoft Excel. What are the steps to add this item to the list?
 
KB article 163606 does not seem to always work for IE versions above
IE5.0 so you may have to try this:
