Adding functionality to keys beyond F12

Hi,

I've got a 101-key keyboard, I think. Anyway, there are three keys
to the right of F12 which used to be labeled PrtScrn ... I can't
remember the rest. On my machine, these keys are labeled with
unrecognizable graphics. Today I wanted to use the PrintScreen
function, so I pressed the left-most of this triplet. What I got was
Hibernate.

How can I see the coding associated with these keys?
Where can I find coding to invoke PrintScreen?

If your keyboard has a block of three to the right of F12, and a block of
six beneath those, that's standard, but if you have the block of three and a
block of nine below that block of three, then chances are the three keys to
the right of F12 are Power, Sleep and Wake-up, (Most newer keyboards have
these three as smaller separate buttons now, but I own a keyboard where
these buttons are the same as type of buttons as the rest of the keyboard).

The top three keys on the block of nine will be Print Screen, Scroll lock
and Pause/Break. This means your print screen key will be to the right of
your backspace key.

Unless you are using specific drivers and the wrong keyboard which cause the
buttons to be mapped incorrectly.

Without knowing the details it's easier to recommend you search for some
screen grabbing software. I'm fairly certain there is some freeware about
that will achieve this.

That's right on the money! It fits my situation in two respects:
1. The icons on the buttons, now that you mention it, seem to match
those functions
2. I've set Windows to Hibernate us the Power Key is pressed.

The top three keys on the block of nine will be Print Screen, Scroll lock and Pause/Break.

They are, indeed!

Without knowing the details it's easier to recommend you

search for some screen grabbing software. I'm fairly certain there is
some freeware about that will achieve this.

I use SnagIt, which is inexpensive free-ware.

But my *real* question is how to get a bunch of unsophisticated users
to hibernate their machines at the end of the workday in order to
reduce the delays in start-up by security packages like PrevX.
