adding extra tick marks

My X-axis has the values of 0,1,2,3,4,5,6
I have lines that go all the way through the chart matching up wit
these numbers.
What I would like to do is add 2 tick marks between the numbers, bu
not have a line go all the way through the graph.
Or have small ticks of the values on the X-axis.
Does anyone know if this can be done?

You can't make the tickmarks go further than usual, or make gridlines
halt partway. But you can simulate partial gridlines. Use the Arbitrary
Gridlines technique on my web site, which puts invisible points along an
edge of the chart, then draws error bars as appropriate. In your case,
the error bars will not go completely across the chart, but will stop at
the level you want. Here's the page:
