Adding color...

Hello,
I'm a novice using PowerPoint and any assistance you can provide will be
greatly appreciated.
I know how to highlight text, but do not know how to highlight anything
else. Specifically what I'm looking for is how to color anything I want
while keeping what I'm looking at exactly the same. The best way to
describe this is I have a white shirt and would like to experiment with
changing its' color until I come across a color I like.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and assist me.

It really depens on what you are trying to color, and how to do it
depends on what version of PowerPoint you are using. It sounds like you
are trying to change the color of a shape. In 2003 and earlier, this can
be done either by selecting and adjusting the color using tools in the
Draw toolbar, or by right-clicking and choosing Format Shape.

Is it a photo or a clipart? And which version of PowerPoint do you use?

- A clipart (vector drawing, EMF or WMF file) can be re-colored in
PowerPoint.
- For a photo (bitmap image, JPG or PNG format) you will need an image
editing program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.
- Or you use the freeform tool and draw the outline of the shirt covering
the one on the photo, but it will not look as realistic.

Best regards,
Ute

Bob,

powerpoint 2007 has this nice new feature that 'shows' what the changes will
be before you 'commit' them. So you can experiment and see the look before
making the change.
