Adding code to a macro

I have recorded a series of events, copying, and pasting data from one
worksheet to another. Should it be possible to add other events, such as
copying and pasting more data by writing extra code to the macro in the VB
Editor or does one need to re-run a separate Macro?
I am asking this because some time ago I tried, and encountered an error!
