adding calendar item to Outlook

I have a form on our company site that allows people to register for a
monthly event we have.
I have the form link back to a confermation page and I would also like to
add a button that would add the event as a calendar event in Outlook.

Can anyone tell me how that is done?

Easiest way is to save the event in Outlook as a .VCS file
- then import that into the web and make it a link to download
