Adding Additional Points to a Line Chart

Christine

I have an existing line chart. Four variables w/ five data points each.
Simple.

My end user would like me to add a single data point for each of the
variables on the same scale but NOT connected to the rest of the data points
(ie, same symbol to represent each variable but not part of the line of the
line graph).

Is this possible? I can do it in Delta Graph fairly easily w/ an overlay
but I'm not sure how to do it (or if I can) in Excel. This chart is embedded
in a PPT presentation so I would prefer not replotting it in Delta Graph.

Thanks!

Just add each one as a new data series and format to get the required symbol
Tell us what type of chart so detailed steps can be provided

It is a "line with markers" and I'm working in 2007.

I'm sorry if I sound like I don't know what I'm doing, we generally plot 90%
of our stuff in Delta Graph so I'm not sure of the right places to go to get
what I want in Excel.

This graph was supplied by our client as part of a PPT presentation and they
wanted to add the data at the 12th hr when the presentation is due.

I appreciate any guidance!

So I added each as a new data series with the time point designated to keep
them to the right of the existing graph. I then went in and changed the
symbols out to match to the existing data lines.

But now I have two sets of information in the legend. Is there any way to
delete out the second set?

Oops, forgot to ask...

Is there any way I can delete out the horizontal grid lines but keep the x
axis line? I found the gridlines pull down but I can either have the lines
or not...including the x axis.

Thanks,
Christine

1) If you carefully select the legend for the point, you can remove it with
Delete key
2) If you click on a gridline so that all are selected (shown by symbols at
each end), you can wish them farewell with the Delete key

What is Delta Graph?

Thanks!

Got the legend items I wanted to delete but when I select any of the
gridlines that I need to delete, they are ALL chosen including the x axis!

The lines make the graph so much harder to read, I can't understand why they
don't offer an option that just has the x and y axes without the extra lines.

The gridlines and the axes lines are DIFFERENT things. You can delete
gridlines without changing the axes lines. I wonder if you have an axis with
no line?
Wan to send me a file so I can experiment? Get my email from website
