ADDING A TRENDLINE WHEN MAKING A CHART FROM A PIVOT TABLE

when i make a chart from a pivot table, the "add trendline" option under
"charts" is greyed out. How do I add the trandline?
 
The default pivot chart type is a stacked column chart. Stacked charts do
not support trendlines. Convert to an unstacked chart type (clustered column
or line) to enable trendlines in the chart.
